Dr. James Brewer, OD
Dr. Brewer grew up in Greene, Maine, and attended Leavitt Area High School. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 2007 with a Bachelors degree in psychology and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. He completed his clinical training at the New England Eye Institute, Boston Medical Center, East Boston Community Health Center, Bedford VA Hospital, and Togus VA Hospital. Dr. Brewer primarily sees patients at the Farmingdale clinic.
Dr. Sarah Gladstone, OD
Dr. Gladstone grew up in the Greater Bangor area. She received her diploma from Hampden Academy and graduated cum laude from the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry. She completed her clinical training at New England Eye Institute, South Boston Community Health Center, Manchester VA Hospital, Vision Care of Maine, and the Lahey Clinic. Dr. Gladstone primarily sees patients at the Bangor clinic.

Dr. Holden grew up in Methuen, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology, and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from MCPHS University School of Optometry in Worcester, MA. He completed his clinical training at Clinton Eye Associates in Connecticut, the Tallahassee VA Outpatient Clinic in Florida, the Harman Eye Center in Virginia, and Total Vision in Connecticut. After graduation, he completed a post-doctoral Residency in Ocular Disease at the Chalmers Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio and the Chillicothe VA Medical Center, also in Ohio. Dr. Holden primarily sees patients at the Farmingdale clinic.
Dr. Lucie Neron, OD
Dr. Neron was born and raised in Chibougamau, Quebec, Canada, and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Montreal School of Optometry. Her optometric clinical training was completed at the Clinique Universitaire de la Vision and Fier Eye Care and Surgery Center, after which she practiced optometry in the province of Quebec before joining Smart Eye Care. Dr. Neron primarily sees patients at the Bangor clinic.
Dr. Jessilin Quint, OD, MBA, FAAO
Dr. Quint is a Texas native and graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology. She completed Master in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science (MS) in Biology degrees at West Texas A&M University, and received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Indiana University. After graduation, she completed a post-doctoral Residency in Ocular Disease with an emphasis on ocular emergency and trauma at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Quint has been an active volunteer, presenter, and author in industry publications. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Quint is currently President of the Maine Optometric Association and serves as an Adjunct Faculty Professor to Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Quint primarily sees patients at the Augusta clinic and Smart Dry Eye Center.
Dr. Anne Tobyne, OD
Dr. Tobyne grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota, and went on to complete her undergraduate degree at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her Doctorate in Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where she became a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society. She has a passion for helping the underserved population with vision care and has helped to open a sustainable vision center in Rwanda and has been to Thailand and Morocco to give eye exams and distribute glasses to those in need. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and enjoys fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with Keratoconus and corneal surface disease. Dr. Tobyne primarily sees patients at the Farmingdale clinic.

At Smart Eye Care, we believe that part of being a local business is participating in, and giving back to, the communities we serve. Maine has a long tradition of community partnerships and community service, and we're proud to contribute to that.
Millions of low-income Americans don't have access to regular vision care or vision correction. The glasses you don't wear anymore could help a child learn to read, or an elderly person remain independent.
Each Smart Eye Care clinic has a collection box for the Lions Club to recycle and distribute old pairs of glasses. We accept glasses, sunglasses, and prescriptions of all types, but children's glasses, farsighted (plus) prescriptions, and very nearsighted (high minus) prescriptions are usually the first to be handed out.

Did you know that flushing your contact lenses can create microplastics in wastewater treatment systems? Microplastics pose a risk to oceans and marine life, and will eventually affect the entire food supply. An estimated 6-10 metric tons of contacts end up in U.S. wastewater systems each year.
Throwing your contacts into the recycling bin is no better: city and town recycling processes are not meant to handle contact lenses, so they end up in the landfill.
Our clinics participate in recycling programs which upcycle old contact lenses into new products. You can drop off your old contact lenses, blister packs, and boxes at any of our locations.
